Producing medium as well as large sailing yachts through much of its run, the final years of Mariner saw the boat compact shift to powerboats featuring gasoline and diesel engines. The agile Mariner sailboats feature construction fiberglass hulls and wood interiors. After 1986, the sailing ship designs pioneered by Mariner were taken over by Stuart Marine.
