A builder of two-stroke outboard motors, Japanese-derived power equipment manufacturer Tanaka came into the United States market during the mid-1970s. Tanaka marine outboard engines over the years range between 1.2 and 5.5 horsepower suited for small fishing boats. Tanaka ceased production of outboard marine motors after in 2002 due to changes in emission standards.
