The 1999 Volkswagen GTI is a sporty, two-door compact hatchback which boasts a totally new look for the model year. The GTI is available with a choice between two engines; a 115 hp 2.0L four-cylinder or a 172 hp 2.8L V6 engine. The GTI may be sporty but it is still efficient, with a highway fuel economy rating near 30 mpg.
