Porsche's image as a sports car specialist is being stretched for 2003 with the debut of a performance-minded sport utility vehicle. Equipped with standard permanent four-wheel drive, the 2003 Porsche Cayenne tall stature replicates styling cues of the 911 sports car. A 340-horsepower 4.5-liter V-8 engine and a 450-horsepower twin-turbocharged Cayenne S have been built to introduce this ambitious new vehicle. For 2003, the Porsche Boxster and Boxster S are the recipients of massive upgrades. Front and rear fascia appearances have been renewed while the convertible top now incorporates a glass window with defroster. The 2003 Boxster's 2.7-liter and the Boxster S' 3.2-liter engine feature improved management software allowing the powerplants to efficiency produce greater horsepower. Through Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system, the interior comfort and entertainment are integrated into a single digital control. The flagship Porsche 911 sports car selection is left largely unchanged for 2003.
