Already introduced in Europe and Canada, Volvo has created the C30 focused on attracting a premium compact car audience. Based on a platform similar to the one used by the European Ford Focus, the 2008 Volvo C30 is a three-door hatchback configured to comfortably accommodate four adults. For 2008, brand-new Volvo V70 and all-wheel drive XC70 wagons emerge incorporating a fresh exterior appearance along with enhanced safety. The Volvo S40 and V50 have also received an updated design for 2008 while blind spot monitoring system is now a new option for the two vehicles. Having undergone a complete redesign in 2007, the S80 sedan now includes a new mid-level performing 281-horsepower T6 AWD model. Engine power for the C70 hardtop convertible has grown to 227 horsepower for 2008. Finally, the S60 and XC90 both feature minor changes for the 2008 model year consisting mainly of trim level reorganizations.
