The 2009 Cadillac Escalade full-size luxury SUV benefits from a few changes, including E85 FlexFuel capability, optional LED headlights, an optional blind-spot warning system, a navigation system with a rearview camera and real-time traffic updates, Bluetooth connectivity and a revised version of OnStar. Available with two-wheel or all-wheel drive, the Escalade is powered by a 403-hp V8 engine with 417 lb-ft of torque, paired to a six-speed automatic transmission with a manual-shift mode, and is now capable of running on E85 for improved fuel economy. EPA mileage estimates are 12 mpg city/19 mpg hwy and 14 mpg in combined driving for 2WD models, while AWD drops one mpg on the highway. Towing capacity for an AWD trim is 7,400 pounds, when properly equipped. With seating for seven or eight and a maximum cargo capacity of 108.9 cubic feet, the Escalade offers plenty of utility with an exceptionally luxurious interior. Achieving a perfect five-star rating for front- and side-impact collisions, Cadillac Escalade safety equipment includes stability control with a rollover sensor, antilock disc brakes, traction control and a full array of airbags.

For 2009, Cadillac's flagship Escalade adds a gas-electric Hybrid to its lineup. The 6.0L Vortec V8 powerplant is available in either two-wheel or all-wheel drive and makes 332 hp. It is mated to a hybrid-specific 6-speed and has a towing capacity of 5,800 lb. E85 FlexFuel capability is now available, as is Side Blind Zone Alert, XM NavTraffic, power-adjustable tilt steering, express-up windows, and Magnetic Ride Control suspension on Escalades with 22-inch wheels. The standard audio system now includes navigation, while a Bluetooth interface through OnStar and a rearview backup camera are standard as well. A special Black Cherry exterior color will be available for a limited time.
