The 2009 MINI Cooper Convertible combines the same unmistakable look and handling of the coupe with the thrill of open-top motoring. The fully automatic soft-top roof retracts in only 15 seconds and incorporates an innovative sunroof. A standard "Openometer" gauge is included to help drivers keep track of time spent with the top down. Available engine choices are the same as the hardtop - either a 118 hp 1.6L in the base model or a 172 hp turbocharged version in the MINI Cooper S Convertible. The base model, rated at 36 mpg hwy, achieves just 1 mpg less than the hardtop. EPA fuel economy ratings for all other trims are unchanged. Optional equipment includes Keyless Go Comfort Access, heated front seats, Bluetooth connectivity, USB/iPod adapter and 17" alloy wheels. The 208 hp John Cooper Works engine remains exclusive to the hardtop, but the upgraded suspension, brake and aero packages are available as dealer installed options.
