Brand-new for 2009, the 2009 Volkswagen Comfort Coupe (CC), a four-door sedan with four-passenger seating capacity, is a restyled version of the Passat. The front-wheel-drive VW CC comes standard with a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 200 hp and 207 lb-feet of torque paired to a standard six-speed manual transmission or an optional six-speed automatic. Fuel economy is an EPA-estimated 19 mpg city/29 mpg hwy and 23 mpg in combined driving, as configured with the automatic transmission. The CC VR6 Sport is equipped with a 3.6L V6 engine that yields 280 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque coupled to a standard six-speed automatic with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. Fuel economy is estimated to be 18 city/27 hwy and 21 with combined driving. All-wheel drive, also known as 4Motion, is optional on the CC VR6 Sport and decreases fuel economy to 17/25/20. All Volkswagen CCs have standard safety features, such as stability and traction control, antilock disc brakes with brake assist, front-seat side airbags and side curtain airbags; rear-seat side airbags are optional on all trim levels. The Passat CC is an all-new sedan model that has sleeker, more dramatic styling inside and out--VW calls it a "four-door coupe"--and a sportier character on the road than typical mid-size sedans.
Sleek design; beautiful, stylish interior; very generous feature list; four-cylinder engine's fuel economy
The CC shares its powertrains with VW's Passat mid-size sedan, but its appearance is much sportier. The CC is only offered in a single, so-called "four-door coupe" body style and really stands out in a class of its own. The availability of 4Motion all wheel drive will be appealing in winter-weather states. Fuel economy is very impressive with the four-cylinder engine. The Passat CC also boasts an affordable price that's only slightly higher than that of the standard Passat sedan.
