Nissan's compact crossover vehicle, the Rogue, gets a few notable updates for 2012. A new Special Edition version has been added to the line in place of last year's Krom package and several other option packages have been revised. A new Sport Mode switch is now offered on all models and Graphite Blue joins the list of available colors. New 16- and 17-inch wheels are optional, and the SL package now includes Nissan's Around View Monitor.
Roomy interior; fuel-efficiency; maneuverability; cargo-friendly layout and storage options; new tech features; value for the money
The Rogue's combination of a roomy interior and high roofline compared to secure, car-like handling--and its small-car maneuverability--make it a great choice for small families. The Rogue also has more clutter-reducing storage places, including the useful underfloor storage compartment. Fuel economy is good, with a combined rating of 25 mpg on the front-wheel drive version. The base S trim starts at an MSRP just under $22,340.
