Bentley Azure Models and Azure History

Entering production in 1995, the Bentley Azure was created largely as a convertible version of the Continental. Built on the Bentley Continental R platform, the first-generation Azure was designed as an ultra-luxury, open-air experience for up to four occupants. Famous Italian company Pininfarina built the body of the 1995 to 2003 Bentley Azure.

A power-operated soft top, leather sport seats and an interior employing real wood trim. From 1995 to 2003, a twin-turbocharged, 6.75-liter V-8 engine linked to a four-speed automatic transmission powered propulsion for the Bentley Azure. In 2002, power from the large eight-cylinder engine was rated at 400 horsepower. Production of the first-iteration of the Azure was concluded after the 2003 model year and would not resume until 2006. With the second-generation Azure, Bentley used the Arnage sedan’s platform. Equipped with a host of luxury amenities, the 2006 Bentley Azure could also be specifically modified to the tastes of a customer from the factory with bespoke touches.

Choices of wood trim as well as interior and exterior coloring were fully customizable. A 450-horsepower twin-turbocharged V-8 engine that also generates 645 pounds-feet of torque, powered the 2006 Bentley Azure. In 2007, Bentley replaced the four-speed automatic with a six-speed gearbox featuring manual shift ability for smoother acceleration. Acceleration from 0 to 60 miles per hour was achievable in 5.6 seconds. Top speed of the Bentley Azure has been rated at 168 miles per hour. Production of the Bentley Azure concluded after the 2010 model year.
