Buick Verano Models and Verano History

Based on the same platform as the Chevrolet Cruze, the Verano was slightly longer and possessed its own assortment of engine power. Targeted as a competitor against the Lexus IS sedan and the Audi A3, the Verano compact sedan debuted in 2012 incorporating Buicks QuietTuning technology for the cabin. Ten airbags, 18-inch wheels and automatic climate control were standout standard features found on the Verano. A direct-injected, 2.4-liter Ecotec four-cylinder engine powered the 2012 Buick Verano. The 180-horsepower engine was attached to a six-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy for the premium compact vehicle was EPA-rated at 21 miles per gallon city and 32 miles per gallon highway. For the 2013 model year, the Verano added the availability of a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine. Generating 250 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque, the enhanced performance of the Verano Turbo brought a much-needed premium performance to the compact Buick. The 2013 Buick Verano Turbo was offered with a choice of the six-speed automatic transmission or a new six-speed manual gearbox. The standard features equipment for the 2013 Verano featured the addition of Buick IntelliLink with a seven-inch LED touchscreen and a rearview camera. In 2014, the Buick Verano added Siri Eyes Free that allows for hands-free control of Apple portable devices through voice command.
