Chevrolet Silverado 1500HD Classic Models and Silverado 1500HD Classic History

While an all-new Silverado based on a GMT900 platform was introduced for the 2007 model year, Chevrolet continued to offer several of Silverado trucks based on the GMT800 vehicle architecture. Offered only with a four-door crew cab body style, the 2007 Silverado 1500HD Classic is fitted with a standard box bed allowing up to 56.9 cubic feet of cargo volume. Powered by a 6.0-liter Vortec V-8 engine generating 300 horsepower and 360 pound-feet of torque, the Silverado 1500HD Classic is paired with a heavy-duty, four-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. The overdrive transmission was also equipped with an auxiliary transmission fluid cooler and a Tow/Haul Mode that changes the shift pattern for pulling trailers. Customers of the truck were able to opt for rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.

Featuring a more robust suspension and drivetrain construction than the Silverado 1500 Crew Cab, the Silverado 1500HD Classic had a payload capacity of 2,838 pounds. With the two-wheel drive model, the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500HD Classic can be equipped to tow up to 10,300 pounds. Capable of accommodating six passengers, the interior of the 2007 Silverado 1500HD Classic provided convenience features such as dual-zone climate control, cruise control, keyless entry and an six-speaker AM/FM stereo system with CD player. Other standard features found on the truck included four-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock braking system and 16-inch chrome steel wheels.

When production concluded for the Silverado 1500HD Classic after the 2007 model year, Chevrolet decided not to produce a half-ton heavy-duty pickup truck on the new GMT900 platform.
