Chrysler Sebring Conv Models and Sebring Conv History

Existing largely in a category by itself since 1996, the Chrysler Sebring Convertible was one of the only five-passenger convertibles produced by an American brand. For 2005, the Chrysler Sebring Convertible was offered in four trim levels consisting of a base, GTC, Touring and Limited model. Fitting four adult passengers, the 2005 Chrysler Sebring Convertible provided occupants with open-top motoring or the protection of a power-operated vinyl top. On the base version of the Sebring Convertible, standard engine power came from a 150-horsepower, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine connected to a four-speed automatic.

Optional on the base Chrysler Sebring Convertible but standard GTC, Touring and Limited models, 200 horsepower worth of performance was generated from a 2.7-liter V-6 engine. On the Sebring Convertible Limited, an AutoStick manually-operated shifter was available. Equipment on the 2005 and 2006 model year Chrysler Sebring Convertible varies depending on the trim level. The base model of the two-door convertible included standard air conditioning, dual power mirrors and electronic speed control.

With an upgraded suspension and body-color spoiler, the GTC trim model came equipped with four-wheel disc brakes and Tutone Ultrahide bucket seats. With fog lamps and 16-inch aluminum wheels, the Chrysler Sebring Convertible Touring adds leather upholstery. The top-trimmed 2005 Sebring Convertible Limited was outfitted with a standard anti-lock braking system and an Infinity speaker system with 150-watt amplifier. When a completely new Chrysler Sebring sedan debuted in 2007, the 2006 model year convertible remained available for an extra year. An all-new Sebring Convertible arrived for 2008.
