Ford Super Duty F-450 DRW Models and Super Duty F-450 DRW History

Becoming the new top-rated pickup truck available through Ford's Super Duty product range, the F-450 made a transition from existing merely as a commercial-grade chassis cab in the 2008 model year. The Ford Super Duty F-450 DRW (Dual Rear Wheel) immediately boasted the Super Duty line's greatest standard towing. In 2008, propulsion from the Super Duty F-450 DRW's 6.4-liter Power Stroke turbocharged diesel engine allowed the first edition of the truck to pull up to 16,000 pounds under conventional towing. Upgrading to a 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbocharged diesel engine added during a new Super Duty introduction in 2011 allowed for greater hauling ability. In 2016, maximum conventional towing has been rated at 19,000 pounds. Additional towing equipment such as TowCommand trailer brake control and Trailer Sway Control has been found as standard equipment on the Super Duty F-450 DRW. Unlike its smaller capacity counterparts, the Ford Super Duty F-450 DRW's model choices were more limited. Since its inception, the Super Duty F-450 DRW has been solely available as a Crew Cab with an eight-foot bed. A new Super Duty F-450 DRW is planned for the 2017 model year.
