Mercedes Benz CLK-Class Models and CLK-Class History

The CLK-Class was introduced by Mercedes-Benz in 1998, offering an all-new sports coupe for customers with a beefy V6 engine. For 1999, a new convertible version was introduced of the CLK-Class. In 2000, the ultra-premium CLK-430 convertible debuted offering supercar like features for the right price. Model years 2001-2002 saw subtle changes only. A revised CLK-Class was released in 2003, boasting a new front grille, a more powerful V8 engine and more options. While 2004 didn’t see many changes, a 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio system was made standard in 2005, along with a new lighting package and new trim level options. The CLK320 was renamed to the CLK350 for 2006, with a new V6 engine and shiny 17” wheels. All V8 engine models got a serious boost in horsepower for 2007, with the V8 now delivering 475 hp in the CLK63. The addition of the CLK63 AMG Black Series was the big news for 2008, with a mind-blowing 6.2-liter V8 engine that could churn out 500 hp. Standard heated front seats, a CD changer in the glove box and updates to upper trim levels rounded out the changes for 2009.
