Mercedes Benz Sprinter Crew Van Models and Sprinter Crew Van History

Introduced a year after Mercedes-Benz started selling the Sprinter commercial van in the United States, the 2011 Crew Van features a design layout based around both passengers and cargo. Marketed as a job site transporter, the 2011 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Crew Van incorporated a three-passenger second-row seating position while a large storage area remained in the rear. A distinguishing detail to the Sprinter Crew Van is standard side windows accompanying the sliding entry doors. Buyers could choose a wheelbase length of 144 inches or 170 inches with the availability of a high roof design. While accommodating five passengers, the Sprinter Crew Van could also fit 367.5 cubic feet of cargo. Introduced with a 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel BlueTEC engine paired with a five-speed automatic transmission, the 2014 model year added a four-cylinder turbocharged diesel powerplant. Both engines deliver ample torque, excellent fuel economy and are engineered to provide a pleasing cost of operations. Available only with rear-wheel drive from 2011 to 2014, an optional 4x4 version of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Crew Van provided an extra level of surefooted performance.
