Pontiac G6 Models and G6 History

Following the discontinuation of the Grand Am, Pontiac released the G6 in 2005, hoping to recapture the market share for its midsize sedan. Two new body styles were unveiled in 2006, a convertible and a two-door coupe, alongside several new trim levels. 2007 saw major shuffling amongst different trims, but the base model remained otherwise untouched. Standard antilock brakes, next-gen side airbags and trim updates marked the 2008 model year. A six-speed automatic transmission was introduced for the base model in 2009, with satellite radio being made standard across all models. The G6 would cross into 2010 basically unchanged from the previous year.
