Saturn Vue Models and Vue History

Saturn joined the growing sport/crossover utility market in 2002 with the Vue. The first-generation Saturn Vue carried-over many of the innovative features exhibited in the brand's existing sedan, wagon and coupe models. Coupled with a familiar exterior styling inspiration, the Saturn Vue wears dent-resistant polymer body panels. Providing generous interior proportions for five passengers and cargo, the 2002 Vue also proved to be flexible in regards to equipment. A four-cylinder engine was available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive while an optional V-6 engine generated 181 horsepower on the 2002 Saturn sport utility vehicle. Initially available only with all-wheel drive models of the Vue, the six-cylinder engine was introduced to the front-wheel drive variant in 2003. For 2004, the Saturn Vue received a decisively sporty Red Line. Equipped with a lowered suspension and 18-inch alloy wheels, momentum for the Vue Red Line came from a 250-horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 engine. All 2006 models of the Saturn Vue received a styling refresh while a mild hybrid Green Line version was made available for 2007. A completely new Saturn Vue compact crossover appeared with a more mature look as well as the choice between four-cylinder, six-cylinder and a hybrid powertrains. Built on a version of General Motors' Theta platform (the basis for the 2009 Chevrolet Equinox as well as the 2010 GMC Terrain), 2008 Vue was the only shorter wheelbase variant sold in the United States. The Saturn Vue was discontinued in 2010 but the vehicle reappeared in 2012 as the Chevrolet Captiva Sport.
