Offered in previous years on the heavy-duty Sierra 1500HD, a crew cab body style was made available for the first time with the regular half-ton pickup truck line-up for 2004. Featuring four doors for easy entry and exit into the six-passenger cabin, the 2004 Sierra 1500 Crew Cab presented itself as a work-capable truck with flexibility for comfortable personal travel. The 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab was exclusively propelled by a 5.3-liter Vortec V-8 producing 295 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque.


Matched with a four-speed automatic with overdrive and Tow/Haul mode, the crew cab was offered as a rear-wheel drive as well as an Autotrac four-wheel drive version. Maximum towing capacity of the GMC half-ton crew cab was 8,500 pounds. Equipped with 5-foot, 8-inch truck bed, the 2004 Sierra 1500 Crew Cab’s payload capacity was rated up to 1,934 pounds. Offered in SLE and SLT trim levels, the standard equipment found on the 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab included four-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock braking system, 16-inch aluminum wheels, dual-zone climate control, heated mirrors, cruise control and a six-speaker stereo system with CD player.


Optional equipment available on the 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab included the Z71 Off-Road package as well as the Z82 trailering package. Inside, an available rear seat DVD entertainment system featuring a seven-inch flip-down LCD screen and a pair of wireless headphones provides a high-tech way for passengers to occupy their time between during travel. Since 2004, the half-ton crew cab has remained a part of the GMC Sierra 1500 line-up.
