GMC Sierra 2500 Crew Cab Models and Sierra 2500 Crew Cab History

A crew cab configuration for the GMC Sierra 2500 based on a GMT400 first appeared in 1999. Excluded from GMC's three-quarter ton pickup truck since 1987, the crew cab body style enabled six passengers to ride comfortably. The 1999 GMC Sierra 2500 Crew Cab was offered with a 5.7-liter and 7.4-liter eight-cylinder gasoline engine or a 6.5-liter turbocharged diesel powerplant. The first generation GMC Sierra 2500 Crew Cab was produced until the end of the 2001 model year. For 2004, the Sierra 2500 Crew Cab returned based on the newer, stronger GMT800 platform. A 300-horsepower 6.0-liter V-8 engine and a heavy duty four-speed automatic transmission powered the 2004 GMC Sierra 2500 Crew Cab. The four-door three-quarter ton pickup truck came with comfort-oriented touches such as multi-zone climate control, keyless entry and cruise control. The standard duty Sierra 2500 Crew Cab pickup truck was discontinued following the 2004 model year.
