MINI Cooper Hardtop Models and Cooper Hardtop History

The 2002 Mini Cooper Hardtop was well received by fans, featuring a beefy 115 horsepower engine, and that also was available in a turbo-charged version. The compact car offered a unique style and a signature interior design at an entry-level price tag. Minor revisions were made to various trims and a second alarm key was added for 2003. An updated three-spoke steering wheel and new beige leather upholstery was introduced for 2004, with a new digital speedometer added to the gauge cluster. Some subtle design changes were made for 2005, including added horsepower for the S trim, and the minor changes to the interior and exterior.

The only thing new for 2006 was the added Checkmate package, which offered specially styled wheels and interior accents, alongside other desirable options. Completely redesigned for 2007, the car still retained its signature style, but also got a drastically upgraded engine, now capable of making 172 horsepower. A new Sidewalk package was also introduced that offered an array of added amenities. Auto up/down windows and stability control marked the only changes for 2009. Changes to trims and packages were minor in 2010, while 2011 saw slightly improved steering, acceleration, and nominal cosmetic updates inside and out. A fully customizable Mini Yours trim was announced in 2012, offering car lovers superior modifications. For 2013, Bluetooth/iPod/USB integration became a standard feature, while the JCW model offered an automatic transmission.
