Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Model Year Indicator

Vehicle Identification Numbers are printed on a small metal plate usually located on the left side of the dashboard visible through the windshield. Some models and makes place the VIN plate on the inside of the left windshield pillar.

The Vehicle Identification Number's tenth digit represents the vehicle model year. This will be true on all vehicles since 1981. Please refer to the following chart for model year indicator codes.
