Founded by Walter King after originally planning to build just one camping unit for his truck in 1945, Sport King was the company pivotal for popularizing the premise of a truck camper. The State of California brand would later expand into the construction of Class C motorhome as well as travel trailer and fifth wheel trailers. Sport King products were well-known for lending themselves to basic camping enjoyment. Sport King ended production of recreational vehicles after the 1987 model year.
